Modern materials and design, strict adherance to Australian and International standards, and exhaustive testing in a NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) certified laboratory ensure that Altair™ Louvre Windows seal tightly to give the best performance possible from a louvre window.
The tight sealing allows Altair™ Louvres to withstand positive and negative wind pressures such as those experienced during Australia's largest and most horrific Cyclones, Cyclone Yasi, on 2nd February 2011.
The speed and force of the wind from the Category 5 Cyclone proved to be quite challenging for even the most cyclone-rated door and window products with wind gusts up to 290km/hr. However, Breezway Altair™ Louvre Windows lived up to their reputation and were among some of the most durable products that performed exceptionally well during this very destructive cyclone.
Read more about Cyclone Yasi and the testimonials from those who experienced the cyclone first hand.
Site wind ratings determine the maximum allowable blade lengths. For more information on allowable blade lengths, please see the Altair™ Product Performance Warranty.
The firm pressure between blades and the patented design of the 'living hinge' ensure that Altair™ Louvre Windows seal tightly when closed. On rainy days water is cleverly managed to the outside of the building through the dual drainage channels concealed within the clips and by the weatherstrip and drainage holes at the bottom of the window. Please refer to the Altair™ Product Performance Warranty for various water ratings.
Windows and doors that seal tightly minimise the amount of air that can leak out of them, helping heating and cooling systems to run more efficiently. Tight sealing windows avoid cold draughts in winter and even play a role in sound insulation.

NOTE: The lower the rating the more efficient the system. |
The combination of tight sealing and the thick blades used in Altair™ Louvre Windows result in a STC rating of 24 – 27 depending on the blade type.
Altair™ Louvre Windows are made entirely from corrosion resistant aluminium, stainless steel and industrial strength plastics for long life durability.
