Yellingbo Art Residence
Creative & Quality Craftsmanship

YELLINGBO, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

The Yellingbo Art House is a modern, yet bold home that was designed and built on acreage in the Wandin Valley, Victoria for a duo of artists. Michael Ellis, the appointed architect has helped create a masterpiece in collaboration with the two owners.

Utilising stone for the dramatic front entrance, the single-level dwelling comprises of a sleeping quarter at one end, work at the other and a living area in the middle. The selection of a limited but consistent palette emphasises low maintenance and high durability.

Double-glazed windows safeguard the home from the cold in addition to hydronic floor heating, reverse cycle heating and the sculptural fireplace.

Breezway Louvre Windows have been installed next to large fixed panels of glass to allow views to be optimised out onto the stunning landscape whilst allowing ventilation in at the owner’s discretion to keep the home comfortable.

The attention to detail and quality craftsmanship has resulted in something quite remarkable – an ‘oasis of beauty’ for the two artists to live and work in.

Completed in just over a year, this project was featured in all its glory on Grand Designs Australia.
