Plantation House, Subtle & Refined Living Environment

Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia

Nestled in the beautiful suburb of Alexandra Headland in Queensland, this Plantation inspired house complements its coastal surroundings to a tee. Stunning, soft white interiors are distinguishably contrasted with light timber finishes creating an effortlessly subtle and refined living environment.

Designer Chris Clout has brought together interconnected indoor and outdoor living spaces to utilise the entire span of the picturesque block.

Breezway Altair Louvre Windows occupy a wall in the master bedroom to help bring the outside in whilst adding a contemporary feel to the home and capturing coastal breezes for natural comfort. More louvres can be seen adjacent to the staircase and in the living area to further assist with natural airflow.

The project was a large scale renovation with a large number of site constraints which were all overcome with ease by Chris and his team.

This project has won the following awards.

  • 2016 National Association of Building Designers Awards: Winner; Best Residential Alterations and Additions over $800 000 construction cost.
  • 2016 Building Designers Association of Queensland State Design Awards: Winner; Residential Alterations and Additions over $600 000 construction cost.
  • 2016 Building Designers Association of Queensland Regional Design Awards: Winner; Residential Alterations and Additions over $600 000 construction cost.
