Port Douglas Renovation Opens up to Views and Ventilation
PORT DOUGLAS, FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA
The Team at Urban Abode Building Design have revamped this beautiful home located in Port Douglas, North of Cairns in Far North Queensland. With beautiful tropical surroundings, the home was renovated to take advantage of natural sea breezes and ocean views to create the perfect living environment for household occupants to enjoy.
Breezway Louvre Windows have been utilised in multiple spaces throughout the home to help maintain comfortable indoor temperatures. A whole wall of Breezway Louvres in the downstairs living room provides maximum ventilation and clear views out to the tropical landscape, helping one to connect with nature when occupying this space. The middle level of the home incorporates Breezway Louvres in the kitchen. This allows cool, refreshing breezes to flow in from one side of the building and out into the entertaining area to keep guests comfortable no matter what time of day it is.
The beauty of the Breezway Louvre is that all windows can be custom designed to any size or shape required to suit the client’s needs. Another great example is the use of louvres in the bedrooms. Breezway Louvres have been installed with multiple bays in the external wall façade and have also been integrated into the bifold door system; this is perfect for purging air at night while the doors are closed and occupants are sleeping.
Urban Abode Building Design take pride in their work to ensure an individualised design that will provide the best possible outcome for the client, and this Port Douglas renovation is no exception. The blurred lines between indoor and outdoor spaces make it a truly unique tropical paradise for the clients to bask in all year round.
This project won the Building Designers Association of Queensland Far North Qld Regional Design Award for Residential Alterations/Additions: Houses over $800,000 construction cost.
