Zetland Terrace Studio, Modernised to Lighten Dark Spaces

Zetland, New South Wales, Australia

This additions and alterations project was designed by Jessica Matson Architecture in collaboration with Amber Road Interiors. The existing terrace house in Zetland has been refurbished from its original dilapidated heritage listed appearance to create a self-contained studio with ensuite above the new garage. Two bathrooms have been added to the original single and the wet areas have been modernised. Breezway Louvre Windows in the kitchen help bring natural light into the living space while allowing fresh breezes to flow through the house.

The external facade and internal fireplace are the only period features retained. Custom joinery was designed for generous amounts of storage. The property was immediately leased once construction was complete.
