University Building Creates A Comfortable Learning Environment
Central Coast, New South Wales, Australia
At Breezway, we believe students need a connection with their environment to help keep a healthy body and mind. That’s why we specialise in products that reduce energy costs while allowing fresh air in to stimulate minds and improve learning outcomes.
Breezway Altair Louvre Windows were specified into this University of New South Wales project for exactly this reason. Altair Louvres open twice as wide as other window types to maximise the flow of ventilation and natural light into the building. This provides an energy efficient way to maintain a healthy and more comfortable learning environment for students that reduces the need for air conditioning and artificial lighting.
This project consists mainly of the Component Altair Powerlouvre Window with clear glass blades that have been installed into a 100mm Clear Anodised Commercial Suite. The Powerlouvres have then been integrated into a Building Management System to ensure the working environment is kept at a comfortable temperature at all times of the day. Manually operated Altair Louvres with A13 handles and clear or satina glass blades are also strategically placed around the building on internal walls (next to and above doors) to further assist with cooling and refreshing the environment.
Security screens are fitted to the louvre windows on external walls to deter intruders from entering the building after hours. The screens also provide protection from insects when the louvres are open throughout the day.
