Suncoast Christian College Primary Precinct
WOOMBYE, SUNSHINE COAST, AUSTRALIA
This contemporary primary learning precinct was developed through deep collaboration with Suncoast Christian College, translating its progressive learning philosophy into a flexible, connected and climate-responsive built environment.
Designed as Stage 1 of the College Master Plan 2019, the three-storey Years 1–6 building supports a co-teaching pedagogy through a series of interconnected learning spaces. Each learning stage accommodates 150 students across a diverse range of settings, including maker spaces, lounges, bleachers, kitchens, art studios and flexible furniture zones, allowing seamless transitions between individual focus, group collaboration and whole-cohort learning.
Breezway Louvre Windows play a key role in delivering natural ventilation, thermal comfort and indoor air quality. Adjustable blades provide precise control of airflow and daylight, enabling teachers to easily adapt internal conditions throughout the day to suit changing weather, learning activities and occupancy levels. This passive design approach significantly reduces reliance on mechanical cooling while creating healthy, comfortable and engaging learning environments.
Together, architecture and environmental design create a vibrant, sustainable primary precinct that supports wellbeing, learning and community connection.
