Locally Manufactured, Quality Products, Designed to Stand the Test of Time

For over 90 years Breezway® has been well established in the window industry, manufacturing and marketing award-winning Louvre Windows all over the world.

Headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Breezway combines decades of innovation with local manufacturing expertise to deliver high-performance louvre solutions designed for Australian and New Zealand conditions.

With on-site 3D modelling, tooling, manufacturing and a NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) Accredited Testing Laboratory, Breezway maintains rigorous quality control to ensure every Altair® Louvre Window System meets and exceeds relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards.

The Altair® Louvre Gallery incorporates a range of innovative and unique features that enhance strength, performance, durability, and design flexibility – helping create louvre systems built to withstand some of the harshest conditions and stand the test of time.

Altair® Louvre Blade Clips

Altair Louvre Clips are designed to ensure the louvre blade is fully engaged, and when closed a smooth continuous surface is created for improved aesthetics, cleaning and draining of water.

Altair Louvre Clips are manufactured from UV stabilised polypropylene and the clip colour is solid throughout. The clips incorporate unique concealed primary and secondary drainage channels that direct the flow of any water to the outside of the building. This is a fundamental contributor to the high-water performance of the Altair Louvre Window.

Altair® Louvre Bearings

The bearings in the Altair Louvre are manufactured from high quality acetal. Acetal is a high strength plastic that ensures a long product life through its high strength, low friction properties and high resistance to fatigue. The Altair Louvre channel is made from 6060-T5 extruded aluminium.

The Breezway bearing is injected moulded and incorporates a unique “living hinge” system that when engaged with the clip and louvre channel provides a system that pulls the clip in tight against the channel for improved sealing when closed and disengages in the open position for easy operation.

The bearing of the Altair Louvre is also designed to fit deeply inside the Altair Louvre clip to grip the louvre blade and provide a positive engagement, increased strength and greater resistance to forced entry.

Rack and Pinion

The bearing and clips pivot via T shaped operating bars that engage with the bearings through a rack and pinion mechanism. This provides distribution of load and enables a strong locking force and ability to exceed 40,000 open/close cycles. That’s three times a day for over thirty-five years.

Altair® Louvre Material

The Altair Louvre is made from aluminium, stainless steel and industrial grade plastics. Handles are made of high strength UV stabilised acetal and stainless steel. The acetal in particular provides a high strength, flexible handle, which unlike an aluminium handle it will spring back to its original shape and position, even when bent severely.

Altair® Powerlouvre™ System

The award winning Powerlouvre™ System displays pure elegance with no visual indication of any external rods or automated device. The fully concealed motor quietly opens louvre blades to 87.5 degrees using a 24V DC operating voltage from 240V AC supply voltage. The System has been extensively tested to pass salt mist, extreme humidity and extreme temperatures between 0 and 60 degrees. The Apptivate® Advance Control Unit offers Bluetooth® LE technology to permit control with compatible smartphones and tablets up to 10m and has in-built temperature sensors and timers to keep rooms naturally comfortable.

Alternatively, the Powerlouvre System can be integrated into Building Management Systems for automatic indoor climate control.

Altair® Stronghold® System

The Stronghold® System has been designed to achieve higher blade retention through an acetal pin that secures the blade to the bearing and clip from the inside. Ideal for use at heights, Altair Louvres with the Stronghold® System gain the benefits of full ventilation whilst providing added safety to the entire window opening. The System has passed extensive testing when subjected to heavy loads up to 163kgs to the edge of the toughened Stronghold® Glass Blade. When closed, the face of the Stronghold® Glass Blade can sustain loads of up to 75kgs without breakage.

Altair® IGLU® System

The IGLU® System offers improved energy efficiency and excellent thermal ratings through two 5mm clear low e glass blades and a 12mm argon gas filled spacer. The system also utilises the Stronghold® System to grant superior blade retention. The stepped nature of the IGLU® Blade allows for the internal glazing layer to be retained within the clip providing a flat aesthetic to the outside of the window. The blades are capped top and bottom by rubber blade-to-blade seals, embedded into the IGU sealant, with a clean ceramic print running the perimeter of each blade to conceal the IGU spacer.

Altair® Louvre Keylock

Altair Louvre Keylocks are zinc cast with a brushed silver or black finish. The folding key design allows easy operation when installed in frames with deep jambs or reveals.
