Dream Home Created to Meet Lifecycle Needs
SMITHFIELD, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA
The Dreamcatcher house is a private oasis on top of a hill surrounded by mountains that has been designed to maximise views to the surrounding mountains and water glimpses. The tropical Queensland style home has two main pavilions; a children’s wing on the left and the main living area and parents retreat on the right.
The main living area is open plan with a deck suspended into the rainforest canopy with views of the wet edge pool. This pavilion has dual views to the south east and north west with Cathedral ceilings framing views of the mountains.
The parent’s retreat features the main bedroom with mountain views and ensuite with courtyard bathroom and spa and an open shower with casement windows looking to mountain and ocean views in complete privacy. There is also a gym and study in this wing.
The children’s wing features three bedrooms, a media room, and large storeroom for games and toys. The bedroom opens up with French doors and Breezway Louvres out onto a recycled timber colonnade with Jade vine and Jasmine providing articulation and shading.
Everywhere you turn are framed views using Breezway Louvre Windows and courtyards that bring the outdoors in. The interiors are selected to reflect the surroundings, blurring the edges between the indoors and outdoors so that you feel that you are truly living a tropical lifestyle in harmony with the environment.
The house and property have everything it needs to allow the owners to be self-sustainable in the future. The design maximises views and the requirement for privacy has been addressed through orientation, private courtyard entry and by using Breezway Louvres with aluminium blades for bedrooms and private areas.
