When upgrading your windows to Breezway Louvres there are various options available to ensure you make the most out of your windows.
Utilising Existing Window Frames
You may choose to install Altair Louvre Componentry into an existing compatible timber or aluminium frame. These components include the Altair Louvre gallery, handles, clips and blades. This process can be quick and unobtrusive ensuring the connection between your windows and the wall are not interrupted.
Installing New Breezway® Louvre Window Systems
Alternatively, you may choose to install an entirely new window system which can be more complex but may deliver better results. Breezway offers three framing systems for various applications:
Easyscreen™ Window System – suitable for all building types with external screening available.
Innoscreen® Window System – an ideal framing option for buildings that require internal screening.
SL2® Window System – a narrow frame for installation into concrete block construction when screening is not required or for internal wall applications.
Customise Louvres to Suit Occupied Areas
The beauty of a Breezway Louvre Window is that you can customise the window depending on your needs and the room it is being installed into.
Blade Options
With Altair Louvre Windows you can choose blades that best suit the windows function. That is, maximising views, letting in or reducing sunlight, reducing glare, gaining privacy, providing better acoustics, increasing thermal comfort or simply creating your own design style.
Breezway Louvres can be installed with glass or aluminium blades, and we offer single or double glazing (with the Award-winning IGLU® System).
Note: By ordering louvre blades for any Window System from Breezway, blades are guaranteed to be accurately measured to correctly fit the frame.
Single Glazing – Glass is a conductor of heat, meaning heat and cold can pass through the blade more easily and is not as energy efficient. However, the energy performance of a single glazed louvre blade can be improved by the inclusion of tinted glass or low emissivity (Low e) glass which has a special surface treatment that slows the transfer of heat or cold through the pane.
Double Glazing – The Breezway IGLU System includes two layers of 5mm low e glass and has a 12mm argon gas filling between the two panes of glass. This acts as a thermal break where less cold or heat is transferred through the window.
Control Options
Whether you prefer pulling a handle or pushing a button Breezway has a louvre window perfect for you. Consider the functionality of your window or the needs of the user when choosing a control method. Handle positions can be moved lower or higher, left or right depending on individual requirements.
Standard Handle – Designed to fit the contours of the human hand for easy use.
Low Profile Handle – Slimline and functional fit for install into bifold and sliding doors.
Ring Handle – For out-of-reach louvre placement operated by a map rod.
Slide Handle – Operate louvres installed in the Innoscreen® System
Powerlouvre™ System – Operated by the wall switch, Apptivate Advance Control Unit or Building Management System and ideal for automatic, more regular control of louvres out-of-reach.
Colour Options
Breezway offers an extensive range of colours and finishes, many with optional colour matched clips and handles. Selecting the right anodising or powder for the atmospheric conditions of your building, along with correct maintenance, will be critical to the ongoing appearance of the finish.
Security & Safety Options
Altair Louvres offer a wide variety of barrier options to choose from including keylocks, security bars and screens. Alternatively the Breezway Stronghold System is designed to mechanically retain blades so you can gain the benefits of full ventilation, compliance and safety in wet areas, balcony enclosures or multi-storey applications.

*U-values = The thermal transmittance between the interior and exterior. Glass with lower u-values means there is less heat or cold transfer compared to one with a higher u-value which prevents heat from leaving the interior during winter and reduces overheating in summer.
*R-values = Thermal resistance by conduction which is determined by thermal properties and thickness, where the r-value increases with these parameters. Glass with a higher r-value is an indicator of better thermal performance, which can better maintain indoor temperatures.
